Curcumin is the chemical compound that we find in the spice turmeric.  The scientific name for turmeric is curcuma longa, and that where the term curcumin originates.

Curcumin which is the most active compound of the turmeric root has been scientifically proven to have the potential to prevent hear disease, Alzheimer’s and cancer.  Its anti-inflammatory properties helps in the prevention and alleviation of depression and arthritis.  It is also an anti-oxidant.
