Healing scents: There was a wise old lady whose advice for almost everything was :

1) Have a glass of wine

2) Just blame it on your phone and say it’s been acting weirdly, off late

3) Rub a little frankincense on it

Frankincense oil or Essential oil is an automatic mood lifter. A great aroma can work wonders on you.

The practice of aromatherapy dates back as far as 4000 BC,when the ancient Egyptians produced medicines, embalming agents, perfumes and cosmetics using scented oils. Chinese, Greek, Indian and Roman civilizations also regularly used scented oils in therapeutic activities. In the  5th C BC, the Greek physician Hippocrates promoted the health benefits of aromatic oils. Aromatherapy gathered public attention in 1937 after the French chemist Renee Maurice Gattefosse wrote a book, Aromatherapie. He mentioned in that book how he treated his burnt hand with Lavender oil and it worked wonders.

If you are new to essential oils, then put Lavender on your list. It’s a harmonizing and balancing oil as it easily mixes with other oils. Lavender can do everything from lowering anxiety levels to improve sleep quality. Just add a few drops in your bubble bath or soak your feet in Lavender water. Or simply put a few drops on your towel and gently inhale.

Eucalyptus oil is another wondrous thing. In these difficult times we are constantly checking ourselves for any cold symptoms. A simple sneeze makes us nervous and we immediately start to think of  theworst. Add a few drops of this oil in your shower gel or on to a steamed towel. Simply inhale. All your clogged nostrils will open up and cleanse your pores.

Essential oil blends one can try at home.

The soothe blend:best for relieving stress and anxiety

14 drops of Lavender

2 drops of Chamomile

8 drops of eucalyptus

10 ml of coconut oil or olive oil.

The body cleanser: best for toning, cleansing and balancing oil production. Add to your body wash.

3drops tea tree

1 drop peppermint

7 drops lemon

The headache relief blend :ideal for promoting mental clarity and calming frayed nerves and relieving pesky headaches.

8 drops Lavender

2 drops peppermint

4 drops rosemary

4 drops eucalyptus

4 drops patchouli

10 ml coconut oil or olive oil

The sacred space blend : for purifying and clearing energy around you. To build a happy space.

2 drops sage

8 drops patchouli

14 drops grapefruit

One-ounce distilled water. Pour the blend in a spray bottle.

The pep in your step blend: for improving focus, mood upliftment and mental stimulation.

6 drops rosemary

14 drops grapefruit

2 drops peppermint

2 drops sage

Mix in an ounce of distilled water .spray on your face and gently inhale the aroma. Great start to your day!
